Introduction

Have you ever thought becoming a translator? If you did, this article is for you. In this article you'll find lots of information about being a translator. First of all, you need to know that there're two kinds of translator that are textual translators and verbal translator. The textual translator can get hire for translating books in edition houses, documents for government, firms, and others. As for the verbal translator, you can get a job with tourism, movies, documentary, and teaching.

What is it like to be translator?

It is great to understand everything and also to help people understand other languages and cultures. Imagine being able to read in 4 different languages and to understand everything it feels great!

What do translators do?

Translator mostly helps people to understand for example in a company the translator can translate document French to English or English to French so when the sing a document it's in their language.

What do translators do on a typical day?

It will depend on what type of translator you are. For a textual translator, you will mostly translate documents, books, lyrics or subtitle for a movie and as for the verbal translator it will mostly be for tourism, dubbing, or for politics between two countries.

Where do translators work?

There's no particular places for the translator. It will depend on what field the person will be and also what kind of translation they need.

How can I become translator?

To become a translator you'll need to go to college in the field of art, letter and communication in language. The program will take about 2 years to finish and after this you will need to go to university for about 2 to 3 years and after this if you want to get specialized you can go further in your studies.

How much money do translators make?

The average salary for a translator is $49458 CAD. It goes between $35000 to $69000 per year Canadian money.

What kinds of additional training do translators need?

Traveling can help a lot to learn the language, speaking with native speakers.

When you work in other countries you have to live by their rules and it's not the same rules that we have in Canada so you have to be careful and you have to inform yourself before working somewhere else.

What are the chances that translators will be replaced by robots soon?

I would say 50/50 chance but there's always going to be a place for human to translate.

What age do translators retire at?

There's no age for a translator to stop working you can do it all your life.

Conclusion

For now, I am in my first year of study and ill need about 5 more years before finishing my studies. My biggest goal is to improve my French and mastery my Spanish, German, Chinese and Estonian.
